Even as standardized tests continue to drive uniformity in education, there is a growing call for more student-centered approaches to teaching and learning. This session will examine various student-centered approaches, provide helpful guidance for determining which model(s) might be useful in particular contexts, describe necessary supports, and suggest possible paths when transitioning to more student-focused pedagogies.
In this empowering session, the presenter will take school leaders on an in depth, self-reflective journey that will force participants to view with a critical eye who they are as the leaders of their schools, including the intentionality behind all aspects of their practice. This session is certain to take participants to higher levels of school leadership effectiveness.
As a leader, how do you get people to see the need for change and embrace it? Come learn how you as a leader can use the seven most powerful elements of your school story to inspire and empower those you lead, help them embrace the vision, and mobilize them to make that vision a reality.
Schools, districts, and even entire state or national education systems that hope to have a bright tomorrow must recognize the importance of maximizing their children's educational opportunities today. This interactive session will feature findings from recent international studies about the defining qualities of world-class education systems and address implications for improving our schools.
At only 14, Zuriel Oduwole has already shaped world discourse. Named one of "33 Women Who Changed the World" in 2015 by ELLE magazine, Oduwole is the world's youngest filmmaker, campaigning via film since the age of 10 support girls' education in Africa and to prevent youth marriage there; at the age of 12, her film was screened on three continents.
This session will provide a step-by-step approach to successfully implementing any change that you would like to occur in your educational setting. The presenter will share where to start the change process, ways to make sure it has widespread support, and how to diminish resistors' influence. Whether you are turning your organization around or just making a good setting better, you will leave with specific strategies you can implement immediately.
