Valencia High School was named a 2016–17 Partnership for 21st Century Learning Exemplar School.
The 21st Century Learning Exemplar Program is a cornerstone for the next stage of the 21st century skills movement. For over a decade, P21 has advocated for 21st century readiness for every student.
Through the Exemplar Program, P21 is identifies, documents, promotes, and celebrates examples of successful 21st century learning. This program provides educators and communities a variety of models to draw from and offers policymakers and P21 State Partners local examples to help encourage their support.
The Valencia Academy, which includes an International Baccalaureate Program and a Val Tech Diploma Program, has been instrumental in bringing students to Valencia from outside our attendance area and district. As a result of enrollment growth over the past several years, Valencia High School has been able to increase the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, computer technology, and Regional Occupational Program (ROP) classes offered. These include a preschool lab on-site that permits high school students within the Careers with Children program to work in the lab school and a Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) program that provides students the opportunity to learn carpentry/construction skills and power/hand tool care and use in the school lab. Students involved in BITA participate in building trades association contests and have opportunities to volunteer for community projects such as Home Aid, Habitat for Humanity, and Paint Your Heart Out.
